Residents of Semeac, in the Hautes-Pyrenees, commented on a wall that has been erected around the Formule 1 hotel, on Tuesday, to protest against plans to house migrants in the building.
The wall was built in the early hours of Monday, to prevent access to the hotel’s entrance.
Vice-President of the SEMEAC Collective Roumy Gabriel explained that the wall was intended to draw attention to the locals’ complaints about the migrant arrivals. “This wall was made yesterday, yesterday in two hours, in order to create a shock factor, because for us it is a wall of truth. It’s the wall which will allow us to be listened to. Before, we weren’t being heard and now that we’ve made the wall, they’re listening to us,” Roumy said.
